Amy Solas, the founder of Solas Communications, has 25 years of experience in financial communications, marketing consulting, and journalism. She brings rigorous analytical skills, exceptional communications skills, and candor to developing messages, materials, and strategies for clients.
Before launching Solas Communications in 1999, Amy was with J.P. Morgan. As a Vice President in Latin America Investment Banking, she advised bankers and clients on transaction communications strategy. This included developing strategy and messages to best highlight the value and potential upside of companies seeking an acquirer or equity capital. As a Vice President in Corporate Communication, she developed strategy and content for major corporate publications, working closely with the financial department, investor relations, and press relations groups.
Previously, Amy was with the financial communications consultancy Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart (now Ogilvy Public Relations) in New York and London. She began her career at the New York Times.
Amy has served as an evaluator and/or judge for the Yale School of Management-Goldman Sachs Foundation Partnership on Nonprofit Ventures National Business Plan Competition, the Haas School of Business Global Social Ventures Competition, and the William James Foundation Socially Responsible Business Plan Competition. She also served as a faculty member of the Venture Capital Institute. Amy is a contributor to the book Generating and Sustaining Nonprofit Earned Income, Jossey-Bass.
A native New Yorker, Amy graduated from Hunter College High School. She holds a BA cum laude from Georgetown University and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
